How to measure (60 seconds)
- Opening width & height: measure your framed rough opening (built-in) or existing fireplace opening (insert).
- Depth available: confirm at least the minimum depth listed for your size.
- Power location: plan outlet access or junction box wiring (dedicated circuit recommended).
- TV above: confirm TV mounting height and follow the TV manufacturer’s clearance guidance.
Clearance note
Keep furniture, drapes, bedding materials and all combustible materials at least 3 feet from the front of the fireplace. Keep combustibles away from the sides and rear of the unit.

Installation type selector
This model line is built-in (framed opening) or insert (existing fireplace opening) only.
Built-in / insert requirements
Use the “Recessed framing / cutout” dimensions in the fit table. Depth is a minimum of 10" for all sizes. For insert installs, the existing fireplace opening must meet or exceed these minimum dimensions.
Electrical: Always connect the fireplace to a dedicated circuit. For hardwire installations, a dedicated 20A (or higher) breaker is required. For OR36-TRAD, OR42-TRAD, and OR54-TRAD, an optional 220–240V configuration is available for 8,300 BTU output and must be wired to a dedicated 220–240V, 20A circuit by a qualified electrician.
Optional surround note (insert installs)
Some insert installations require an extra-wide surround to cover existing fireplace edges. Extra-wide black surround kits are available for 26", 30", and 36" models; 42" and 54" surround kits are not available.
Size-by-size guidance (recommendations)
The Orion Traditional series utilizes Virtual Fire technology and Heliostone flame patterns across all models to provide a classic fireplace aesthetic.
26" model
OR26-TRAD
Best for: Small bedrooms, cozy reading nooks, or replacing existing small fireplace inserts where space is limited.
Why: This is the most compact model in the series, offering a classic square viewing area that fits into narrow wall sections. It provides the high-end visual impact of the Orion series in a space-saving footprint.
