How to measure (60 seconds)
- Pick your wall type: 2×6 flush (deeper recess) vs 2×4 (requires trim kit / partial recess).
- Confirm width: frame to the “Rough opening / cutout” width for your chosen size in the fit table.
- Confirm height: framed opening height is a consistent 16" for all sizes (see table).
- Confirm depth: plan for 5 1/2" depth for flush 2×6 installs (or 3 1/2" for 2×4/partial recess per table notes).
- Plan power: supports 120V (1,500W) or 240V (2,500W). Dedicated circuit recommended.
- Mounting height: for best flame viewing, mount the bottom of the unit about 5" to 40" above the floor (style-dependent).
Clearance note
Maintain a safe front clearance from combustibles per the manufacturer installation manual. For TVs above the fireplace, follow the TV manufacturer’s heat/clearance guidance and validate temperatures during installation.

Installation type selector
Pick your install type to see the right depth constraints and planning notes.
Flush in 2×6 framing: clean, edgeless look
Use the cutout width and 16" height from the table, and plan for a 5 1/2" recess depth for a true flush install.
Viewing-angle tip
For best flame presentation, many installs look best with the bottom of the unit about 5" to 40" above finished floor (design-dependent).
Electrical: choose 120V (1,500W) or 240V (2,500W). Dedicated circuit recommended.
2×4 wall: partial recess with trim kit
Use the table cutout width and 16" height, and plan for 3 1/2" framing depth. For 2×4 construction, an optional trim kit is commonly used to accommodate the portion that cannot be fully recessed.
Plan the finish edges
Confirm your finish material thickness and align the trim/finish so the opening stays straight and level across the full run.
Electrical: 120V/240V supported. Dedicated circuit recommended to avoid nuisance trips.
Outdoor capable when sheltered
Outdoor installs should be under an overhang/shelter to protect the unit from direct water exposure. Verify all local electrical requirements and use outdoor-rated methods and materials as required.
Service access matters
Plan access for future servicing and keep control areas protected from weather and debris.
Confirm clearances and site conditions per the manufacturer manual before finalizing the outdoor location.
Size-by-size guidance (recommendations)
The fit table above is the source of truth for framing dimensions. The notes below are shopping guidance to help you choose faster.
Key considerations for all sizes
- Optimized viewing angle: mount the bottom of the unit about 5" to 40" above the floor for best viewing.
- Installation versatility: flush in 2×6 framing, or use a trim kit approach for 2×4 walls.
- Outdoor capability: suitable outdoors when installed under shelter/overhang.
- Comfort$aver® heating: efficient supplemental heat with 120V or 240V options (model-dependent wiring plan).
- Media scaling: decorative media quantity increases with size for a full, premium look across the wider bed.
