Fit Requirements
Framing opening and unit dimensions — all from the Dimplex installation manual
24" Model — Framing Opening (Rough-In)
The framing opening is the wall cavity your framing crew builds. These dimensions are confirmed across both the installation manual and the technical specification sheet.
| Dimension | Inches | Millimetres | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Framing opening width | 24-5/8" | 626 mm | Finished surround must be cut to this exact dimension |
| Framing opening height | 22-3/8" | 568 mm | Finished surround must be cut to this exact dimension |
| Minimum framing depth | 12-1/2" | 318 mm | Minimum wall cavity depth required |
Self-Trimming Flange Note
The 1/4" (0.6 cm) self-trimming flange on the unit is for finished appearance only — it does not compensate for an oversized opening. The materials used for the finished surround must be cut to the precise framing opening dimensions (width and height above). Do not build the opening larger and rely on the flange to cover the gap.
24" Model — Overall Unit Dimensions
Overall unit dimensions describe the physical firebox itself — not the opening. Use these to confirm the unit will clear doorways and hallways during installation.
| Dimension | Inches | Millimetres |
|---|---|---|
| Overall width (outer) | 25-1/4" | 640 mm |
| Overall height | 22-7/8" | 581 mm |
| Overall depth | 12-1/8" | 307 mm |
| Viewing area width | 19" | 483 mm |
| Viewing area height | Not specified in official documentation | — |
| Product weight | 45.5 lbs | 20.7 kg |
Corner Installation Dimensions (24" Model)
The Revillusion supports corner installation with a dedicated framing configuration. Build a standard framing opening per the dimensions above, then orient per the corner installation diagram in the Dimplex installation manual.
| Dimension | Inches | Millimetres |
|---|---|---|
| Corner installation diagonal | 47-3/4" | 1,213 mm |
| Corner installation — each wall leg width | 33-3/4" | 857 mm |
| Corner installation — each wall leg depth | 33-3/4" | 857 mm |
Other Sizes: 30", 36", 36" Portrait, 42"
The Revillusion series is available in five sizes. Framing dimensions for the 30", 36", 36" Portrait, and 42" models are not documented here — separate installation manuals are required for each size. Contact Serene Yards before ordering if you need to confirm fit for any size other than 24".
Clearances
Zero clearance design — exact requirements from the installation manual
⚠️ Zero Clearance Design
This is a zero clearance design. The firebox can be installed in direct contact with the surrounding framing on all sides, rear, and bottom — with one exception: insulation and vapor barrier at the top of the unit must be kept a minimum of 2" (5.1 cm) away from the firebox. Combustible materials in front of the unit require a 3-foot (0.9 m) clearance.
| Surface / Direction | Required Clearance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Top — insulation and vapor barrier | Minimum 2" (5.1 cm) | Only clearance exception to the zero-clearance design |
| Sides | Zero clearance | Can contact framing directly |
| Rear | Zero clearance | Can contact framing directly |
| Bottom | Zero clearance | Can contact framing directly |
| Front — combustible materials | Minimum 3 feet (0.9 m) | Furniture, pillows, bedding, curtains, papers, clothing |
| TV / above-fireplace clearance | Not specified in official documentation | Consult a qualified installer |
🚫 Vapor Barrier and Insulation — Direct Contact Prohibited
The built-in electric firebox must NOT be in direct contact with any building vapor barrier or insulation. Any insulation or vapor barrier at the top of the unit must be placed a minimum of 2" away. This applies to the top surface only — the clearance exception does not extend to sides or rear.
🚫 Front Face Must Not Be Recessed
The front of the firebox must not be set back into the wall cavity. The face must remain flush with or projecting beyond the finished wall surface. Recessing the front face will block the heater airflow outlet and prevent adequate ventilation, creating a heat buildup risk.
Reflective Flame Panel — Handling Note
Reflective Flame Panel (Acrylic Screen)
The Revillusion uses a partially frosted translucent acrylic panel that creates the appearance of flames originating within the log set. The installation manual specifies that this panel (referred to in Dimplex documentation as the "reflector screen") should be cleaned with a damp cloth only — no abrasive cleaners. For fingerprints and marks, use a damp cloth and dry completely with a lint-free cloth to prevent water spots. Dust can be removed with a clean dry cloth. No specific handling clearances for this panel are stated in the installation manual beyond the standard front-face obstruction prohibition.
Installation Types

🚿 Bathroom Installation
If installed in a bathroom, the unit must be protected by a GFCI receptacle or circuit. If a receptacle is used, it must be readily accessible. The firebox is not watertight and must be installed to prevent water entry — keep away from showers, tubs, and any water source. Combustible materials including towels must be kept at least 3 feet from the front of the unit.
Electrical Requirements

Plug-In Installation
The Revillusion ships with a 72" (183 cm) power cord for plug-in installation. Plug directly into a grounded 120V wall receptacle with the same configuration as the plug — no adapter. The receptacle must be on a dedicated 15-amp circuit.
The unit must not be used with an extension cord. If the existing receptacle location does not allow direct plug-in, the receptacle should be relocated by a qualified electrician before installation.
Hardwire Installation
The Revillusion supports direct hardwire installation. A hardwire bracket is included in the box. To hardwire:
- Remove the power cord from the back of the unit (two screws, slide the electrical box back, disconnect wire connectors, cut the ground wire leaving enough length to reuse)
- Replace the power cord assembly with the included hardwire cover
- Run 2-conductor wire with ground (3 wires total) from the breaker panel to the unit's junction box
- Connect white (neutral), black (live), and green (ground) wires at the junction box
- Allow 8" (20.3 cm) of service cable when installing before wall finishing; allow up to 4 ft (122 cm) when installing after wall finishing
- Secure cable using a 1/2" approved strain relief connector (not included)
A wall switch can be used with hardwire installation. The switch must be rated for a minimum of 15 amps. For 120V with a wall switch, use a single pole, single throw (On/Off) switch.
💡 Dedicated Circuit Note
A dedicated circuit is strongly recommended. A dedicated circuit will be required if, after installation, the circuit breaker trips or fuse blows on a regular basis when the heater is operating — additional appliances on the same circuit may exceed the circuit breaker's current rating. All wiring must comply with applicable local and national electrical codes.

Frequently Asked Questions
All answers sourced from the Dimplex installation manual
What are the framing dimensions for the Dimplex Revillusion 24" Built-In Firebox?
The Dimplex Revillusion 24" requires a framing opening of 24-5/8" wide by 22-3/8" tall, with a minimum framing depth of 12-1/2". These are the rough-in dimensions for the wall cavity. The finished surround opening must be cut to these exact dimensions — the 1/4" self-trimming flange on the unit creates a finished appearance only and does not compensate for oversized openings. Framing dimensions are confirmed across the installation manual and technical specification sheet. Dimensions for 30", 36", and 42" models require their respective installation manuals.
Does the Dimplex Revillusion require venting?
No. The Dimplex Revillusion Built-In Electric Firebox does not require any special venting. It is 100% electric with no combustion and no gas line. It can be installed in a fully enclosed wall cavity without ductwork or flue connections.
What electrical circuit does the Dimplex Revillusion require?
The Dimplex Revillusion requires a dedicated 120V, 60Hz circuit rated at 15 amps. A dedicated circuit is recommended; one will be required if the circuit breaker trips or fuse blows during heater operation. The unit draws a maximum of 1,500 watts. It can be plug-in (power cord included at 72" length) or hardwired directly — a hardwire bracket is included in the box. Extension cords are prohibited.
Can the Dimplex Revillusion be installed flush with the wall surface?
No. The front of the firebox must not be recessed into the wall. The face must remain flush with or project slightly beyond the finished wall surface to allow adequate airflow from the heater. Blocking or recessing the front face will prevent proper heater ventilation. The unit is a zero clearance design on all sides and rear, but the front face must remain unobstructed.
Can the Dimplex Revillusion be installed in a corner?
Yes. The Dimplex Revillusion installation manual provides dedicated corner installation dimensions. A corner installation requires a diagonal measurement of 47-3/4", with each wall leg measuring 33-3/4". The 270-degree firebox surround design is available with any of the four backer finish options, supporting corner configurations. Build the framing opening to the standard dimensions and follow the corner framing diagram in the installation manual.
