Modern Flames Spectrum Slimline Electric Fireplace Size Guide: 50"-100"

Compare 50", 60", 74", and 100" Spectrum Slimline models to confirm finished opening dimensions, viewing area, and 120V electrical requirements before you buy.

How to measure (60 seconds)

  • Choose install type: recessed (flush) or wall-mount (bracket).
  • Opening size: for recessed installs, measure the finished opening width × height and verify minimum depth.
  • Depth available: confirm at least 4" minimum depth for recessed installs.
  • Power: plan a dedicated 120V circuit (15A or higher breaker recommended/required per manual).
  • TV / mantel above: keep clearance above the glass opening (see installation notes below).
Clearance note
Keep furniture, drapes, bedding materials and all combustible materials at least 3 feet from the front of the fireplace. Follow the manufacturer’s minimum clearances and local electrical code.

Installation type selector

Spectrum Slimline supports recessed (flush) or wall-mount installation. Use the correct constraints below.
Recessed (flush): finished opening + depth
Build the finished opening to the exact “Recessed framing / cutout” dimensions in the fit table (minimum 4" depth). Ensure the unit can be serviced/removed per manual guidance.
Clearances (measured from the glass front): Bottom 0", Sides 0", Back 0". Maintain 11.8" (300mm) minimum clearance from the top of the glass to a mantel or ceiling (per manual). Keep combustibles at least 36" from the front.
Wall-mount: bracket + stud fastening
Mount the included bracket level and fasten into wall studs where possible. The manual recommends a dedicated 15A (or higher) breaker and prohibits extension cords/power strips.
Wall-mount installs use the supplied bracket and (where applicable) side skirt panels. Maintain the same top clearance guidance for TV/mantel planning: 11.8" (300mm) from the top of the glass to mantel/ceiling (per manual), and follow your TV manufacturer’s heat/clearance requirements.

Size-by-size guidance (recommendations)

Why choose Spectrum Slimline? Ultra-slim 4" recessed opening, Hybrid-FX™ flames, true flush-mount look, and flexible wall-mount or recessed installation on standard 120V power.

50" model

SPS-50B
Best for: Small apartments, bedrooms, or mounting under 43"–50" televisions.
Why: This is the most popular entry-level linear fireplace. At just under 50 inches wide, it provides a sleek, modern look without requiring a large dedicated wall. Because it only requires 4 inches of depth, it can be recessed into a standard 2x4 partition wall without any special framing modifications.
Viewing area: 46" W × 12" H
Recessed cutout: 48 7/8" W × 16 1/4" H × 4" D (min.)
Firebox: 49 3/4" W × 17" H × 4 3/4" D

60" model

SPS-60B
Best for: Standard living rooms and balancing with 55"–65" televisions.
Why: The 60-inch model is the "sweet spot" for most residential feature walls. It stretches wide enough to create a high-end look but remains lightweight enough for easy wall-mounting. It features the same high-intensity Hybrid-FX™ flame technology as the larger models, ensuring the fire looks vibrant even in bright rooms.
Viewing area: 55 13/16" W × 12" H
Recessed cutout: 58 7/8" W × 16 1/4" H × 4" D (min.)
Firebox: 59 3/4" W × 17" H × 4 3/4" D

74" model

SPS-74B
Best for: Large master suites, basement media rooms, and dining areas.
Why: At over 6 feet wide, the 74-inch model is designed to fill horizontal space and create a "luxury" feel. It is a favorite for designers who want the look of a high-end custom fireplace but are working with a standard 120V electrical outlet and limited wall depth.
Viewing area: 69 3/4" W × 12" H
Recessed cutout: 72 7/8" W × 16 1/4" H × 4" D (min.)
Firebox: 73 3/4" W × 17" H × 4 3/4" D

100" model

SPS-100B
Best for: Grand great rooms, commercial lobbies, and expansive home theaters.
Why: This is a true statement piece. Stretching nearly 8.5 feet across, the 100-inch model is built to anchor massive walls. Despite its impressive scale, it maintains the ultra-slim 4-inch profile, allowing you to achieve a "flush" built-in look in locations where deeper fireplaces would be impossible to install.
Viewing area: 95 7/8" W × 12" H
Recessed cutout: 98 7/8" W × 16 1/4" H × 4" D (min.)
Firebox: 99 3/4" W × 17" H × 4 3/4" D
