Bull Gas Grill Comparison Guide

A side-by-side analysis of the five Bull built-in gas grill series we carry — Steer, Outlaw, Lonestar Select, Angus, and Brahma — covering cooking area, BTU output, burner architecture, lighting, infrared back burner, and how to choose between them.

At a Glance

Five built-in series, one shared construction. Every Bull built-in we carry uses 304 stainless steel construction with solid stainless steel grates, a single-piece dual-lined hood, piezo igniters, and zinc knobs. Differences sit in size, burner count, lighting, and the Infrared Back Burner.

The Twin Lighting System tier. Lonestar Select, Angus, and Brahma include the Twin Lighting System (interior halogen control panel lighting). Outlaw and Steer do not include lighting — choose based on whether you grill after sunset.

The Infrared Back Burner tier. Angus and Brahma ship with a 15,000 BTU Infrared Back Burner standard — the rotisserie-ready option. Outlaw, Lonestar Select, and Steer do not include a back burner.

Burner type changes warranty. Outlaw, Lonestar Select, Angus, and Brahma use cast stainless steel burners — covered for life. Steer uses welded stainless steel burners — covered for 5 years. Inserts and grates are lifetime covered across all five series.

Brahma is the largest single-zone built-in. 5 main burners, 90,000 BTU total, 943 sq in main cooking grid. Roughly 40% more cooking area than the 30″ Outlaw, Lonestar Select, and Angus.

Elite trims = head + cover bundle. Angus Elite (SKU 42008) and Brahma Elite (SKU 52008) are the same Angus and Brahma heads with a Bull weather cover bundled in — cooking specs are identical to the standard heads, not a separate series.

The Bull Brand

Family-owned outdoor kitchen specialist, established 1992

Bull Outdoor Products, Inc. has manufactured premium outdoor cooking equipment since 1992. The company is family-owned and headquartered at 1011 East Pine Street, Lodi, California, with founder Mark Nureddine still associated with the brand. Bull's lineup spans built-in grill heads, drop-in charcoal grills, outdoor kitchen islands, refrigeration components, fire features, and pizza ovens — designed and engineered as integrated outdoor kitchen systems rather than standalone grills.

Brand position: Bull sits in the premium tier of residential outdoor gas grills. Construction is uniformly 304 stainless steel across the lineup we carry, with cast or welded stainless steel main burners, single-piece dual-lined hoods, and zinc knobs. The buyer profile is the homeowner building a permanent outdoor kitchen who values lifetime-covered grates and burners over disposable big-box construction. Bull is sold through specialty BBQ dealers, online retailers, and the Bull Factory Outlet in Lodi.

The built-in lineup we carry covers five series — Steer (24″), Outlaw (30″), Lonestar Select (30″), Angus (30″), and Brahma (38″). The 30″ tier (Outlaw, Lonestar Select, Angus) shares the same 575 sq in cooking grid and 4-burner architecture; the differences sit in lighting and Infrared Back Burner equipment. Steer is the compact 24″ entry. Brahma is the largest single-zone built-in we carry. Browse the full Bull collection for current pricing and inventory across all five series plus the Bull commercial-style griddle and dual-fuel countertop pizza oven.

The Five Series

What actually distinguishes Steer, Outlaw, Lonestar Select, Angus, and Brahma

The five Bull built-in series differ on three axes: size and burner count (24″/3-burner Steer, 30″/4-burner trio, 38″/5-burner Brahma), lighting (Twin Lighting System on Lonestar Select / Angus / Brahma; none on Outlaw and Steer), and the Infrared Back Burner (standard on Angus and Brahma; absent on Outlaw, Lonestar Select, and Steer). Construction, ignition, hood, and grates are identical across the lineup.

Steer (24″) — SKU 69008 LP / 69009 NG

The compact 24″ Steer is the entry built-in. 3 welded stainless steel main burners deliver 15,000 BTU each for 45,000 BTU total, across a 429 sq in main cooking grid plus a 129 sq in warming rack. Construction is 304 stainless steel with solid stainless steel grates and a single-piece dual-lined hood. No interior lighting, no back burner, no rotisserie kit. Best fit: small islands and apartments where the 30″+ models will not fit, or as a secondary built-in alongside a larger primary grill. Welded burners carry a 5-year warranty (vs lifetime on the cast stainless burners used in the rest of the lineup).

Outlaw (30″) — SKU 26038 LP / 26039 NG

The Outlaw is the flagship 30″ 4-burner built-in without lights or back burner. 4 cast stainless steel main burners at 15,000 BTU each deliver 60,000 BTU total across a 575 sq in main grid plus a 176 sq in warming rack. Cast stainless burners carry a lifetime warranty. No Twin Lighting System, no Infrared Back Burner — simpler architecture, lower price than the rest of the 30″ lineup. Best fit: daylight grilling at scale, or an outdoor kitchen where a separate task light handles after-dark cooking.

Lonestar Select (30″) — SKU 87048 LP

The Lonestar Select adds the Twin Lighting System to the same 30″ / 4-burner / 575 sq in / 60,000 BTU architecture as the Outlaw. Halogen interior lighting illuminates the cooking surface and control panel for night cooking — an unusual feature at this price tier. No Infrared Back Burner. Best fit: homeowners who grill after sunset frequently and want the lighting without paying for the Angus's infrared back burner.

Angus (30″) — SKU 47628 LP

The Angus is the rotisserie-ready 30″ 4-burner built-in. 4 cast stainless steel main burners at 15,000 BTU each (60,000 BTU) plus a 15,000 BTU Infrared Back Burner deliver 75,000 BTU total across the same 575 sq in main grid as the Outlaw and Lonestar Select. Twin Lighting System included. The rotisserie kit itself is a separate accessory — the back burner is the heat source for it. Best fit: homeowners who want both interior lighting and the option to rotisserie a whole bird, prime rib, or pork shoulder. Angus Elite (SKU 42008) is the same Angus head with a Bull weather cover bundled in — same cooking specs.

Brahma (38″) — SKU 57568 LP / 57569 NG

The Brahma is the largest single-zone built-in we carry. 5 cast stainless steel main burners plus a 15,000 BTU Infrared Back Burner deliver 90,000 BTU total across a 943 sq in main grid plus a 223 sq in warming rack — roughly 40% more cooking area than the 30″ tier. Twin Lighting System included. Best fit: outdoor kitchens that regularly cook for 8+ guests and want a single full-width grill rather than two smaller ones. Brahma Elite (SKU 52008) is the same Brahma head with a Bull weather cover bundled in — same cooking specs.

ℹ️

"Elite" SKUs are head + cover bundles, not a separate series

Angus Elite (42008) and Brahma Elite (52008) ship with a Bull weather cover included. Cooking area, burner count, BTU, lighting, and back burner are identical to the standard Angus and Brahma. The Elite price reflects the cover plus a configuration upgrade; the cooking experience is the same.

Cutout dimensions appear in the dedicated size guide

Each Bull built-in head has a different rough opening cutout. Exact cutout width × depth × height (and required side / rear / overhead clearances per the Bull owner's manual) appear in the Bull built-in grill size guide — work from those numbers when planning a new island or specifying a cutout to your contractor.

How to Choose

Three questions: cooking style, size of cookout, and whether you grill at night

Three questions decide the right Bull built-in: how you cook, how many people you cook for, and whether you grill after sunset.

1. How do you cook?

If you regularly rotisserie a whole bird, prime rib, or pork shoulder, you need the Angus or Brahma — the 15,000 BTU Infrared Back Burner is the heat source for the rotisserie kit (sold separately). The Angus offers it on a 30″ chassis; the Brahma offers it on a 38″ chassis.

If you cook conventionally — burgers, steaks, chicken, vegetables — and you do not rotisserie, the Outlaw, Lonestar Select, and Steer all share the same direct-grill cooking architecture. Pick by size and lighting (next two questions); back burner is not a factor.

2. How many people are you cooking for?

  • 2–4 people, compact island or apartment: Steer 24″ (429 sq in main, 45,000 BTU) — the entry built-in.
  • 4–6 people, standard 30″ island: Outlaw, Lonestar Select, or Angus — all share 575 sq in main and 60,000+ BTU. Pick by lighting and back burner needs.
  • 8+ people, full-width island: Brahma 38″ (943 sq in main, 90,000 BTU) — the largest single-zone built-in we carry.

3. Do you grill after sunset?

The Twin Lighting System (interior halogen lighting on the Lonestar Select, Angus, and Brahma) is the reason to upgrade past the Outlaw on a 30″ island. If you grill exclusively in daylight, the Outlaw is the better value — same cooking architecture, no lights, lower price. If you grill regularly after sunset, the Lonestar Select adds the lighting without the back burner; the Angus adds both.

Common configurations

  • Compact 24″ island, daytime cookouts for 2–4: Steer (LP 69008 or NG 69009). Lowest entry into the lineup; welded burners cover 5 years instead of lifetime.
  • 30″ island, daytime grilling for a family of 4–6, no rotisserie: Outlaw (LP 26038 or NG 26039). Same 60,000 BTU and 575 sq in as the Lonestar Select and Angus, lower price.
  • 30″ island, evening cookouts under exterior task lighting: Lonestar Select (LP 87048). Adds the Twin Lighting System.
  • 30″ island, regular rotisserie cooks, evening grilling: Angus (LP 47628), or Angus Elite (LP 42008) for the head + cover bundle.
  • 38″ island, party-scale cookouts with rotisserie: Brahma (LP 57568, NG 57569), or Brahma Elite (LP 52008) for the head + cover bundle.

Term Covered components
Lifetime Insert assembly, cooking grates, cast stainless steel burners (Outlaw, Lonestar Select, Angus, Brahma).

⚠️

Residential coverage only — install location matters

The Bull warranty applies to the original purchaser at the original installation address. Coverage is voided for grills installed in rental, commercial, or non-residential applications — including day care centers, schools, B&Bs, churches, restaurants, hotels, and food service locations. Coverage also excludes damage from improper installation, improper fuel supply, modifications, normal wear, surface rust, or external causes. Bull replaces parts only — shipping and labor are not covered. Submit warranty claims through bullbbq.com/support-warranty or call (800) 521-2855.

Bull Griddle & Pizza Oven

Adjacent product categories for the outdoor kitchen

The Bull lineup at Serene Yards extends beyond the built-in grill series. Two adjacent product categories live on dedicated product pages — they are not series of grills, but stand-alone outdoor cookers that pair naturally with a Bull built-in for an integrated outdoor kitchen.

Bull Commercial Style Griddle (SKU 92008 LP / 92009 NG)

30″ drop-in chromium-plated griddle plate with 556 sq in of flat-top cooking surface. 4 welded stainless steel burners deliver 60,000 BTU total under the plate, with a built-in grease management system underneath. Construction is 304 stainless steel with piezo igniters and zinc knobs to match the built-in grill lineup. Best fit for breakfast cooking, smash burgers, hibachi-style cooking, and anything that benefits from a flat heated surface rather than open grates. Bull Commercial Style Griddle product page.

Bull Dual Fuel Countertop Pizza Oven (SKU 69550 LP / 69564 NG)

Countertop pizza oven that runs on either gas (LP or NG) or wood — never both simultaneously, which voids the warranty. Preheat from cold to baking-ready takes about 15 minutes. Ships with a Bluetooth digital thermometer (removable) with two food temperature probes, an ash clean-out basket, and a pizza peel/launcher. 110 lb countertop unit; 20.4″ × 28.9″ × 30″. FAQ

Top questions about Bull gas grills

What are the different Bull grill series?

Bull builds five built-in grill series we carry. Steer (24″, 3 welded stainless steel burners, 45,000 BTU, 429 sq in main grid) is the compact entry. Outlaw (30″, 4 cast stainless burners, 60,000 BTU, 575 sq in) is the flagship 4-burner without lights or back burner. Lonestar Select (30″, 4 cast stainless burners, 60,000 BTU, 575 sq in) adds the Twin Lighting System for night cooking. Angus (30″, 4 cast stainless burners, 75,000 BTU total with the 15,000 BTU Infrared Back Burner, 575 sq in) adds halogen lighting plus rotisserie-ready infrared. Brahma (38″, 5 cast stainless burners with Infrared Back Burner, 90,000 BTU, 943 sq in) is the largest single-zone built-in we carry. Angus Elite and Brahma Elite are the same heads bundled with a Bull weather cover.

Are Bull grills good quality?

Every Bull built-in grill we carry uses 304 stainless steel construction with solid stainless steel cooking grates, single-piece dual-lined hoods, and piezo igniters with zinc knobs. The Bull warranty is tiered by part: lifetime on the insert assembly, cooking grates, and cast stainless steel burners; 5 years on welded stainless steel burners (the Steer's burner type); 3 years on the manifold, flame tamers, heat shields, warming rack, and porcelain coated burners; 1 year on the lid, control panel, valves, regulator, and lighting components. The lifetime burner term is unusual at this price point — only cast stainless steel construction qualifies for it.

What is the difference between Bull Outlaw and Bull Lonestar Select?

Both grills are 30″ built-ins with the same 4 cast stainless steel main burners (15,000 BTU each, 60,000 BTU total), the same 575 sq in main cooking grid, and the same 176 sq in warming rack. The functional difference is the Lonestar Select adds the Twin Lighting System (interior halogen control panel lighting for night cooking) — the Outlaw does not have lights. If you grill after sunset frequently, the Lonestar Select justifies its premium; if you cook primarily during daylight, the Outlaw delivers identical cooking performance at a lower price.
