Broilmaster Gas Grill Comparison Guide
A side-by-side analysis of the four Broilmaster grill series we carry — B Series Stainless, Premium, Super Premium, and Specialty Slow Cooker — built around cooking area, BTU output, burner architecture, mounting options, and how to choose between them.
Two construction families. B Series uses 304 stainless steel (with optional 316 marine-grade); Premium, Super Premium, and Slow Cooker use heavy-duty cast aluminum heads with stainless steel internals.
The Bow Tie Burner is the Premium signature. A patented stainless steel burner shape that delivers 40,000 BTU across the full Premium and Super Premium head. Standard on every P3X, P3XF, P4X, P4XF, and P3SX.
Super Premium is the loaded P3X. P3SX / P3SXN ships with the Smoker Shutter, stainless steel griddle, folding Retract-A-Rack, and Flare Buster ceramic enhancers all standard — the same head as P3X with every option pre-checked.
Slow Cooker is a different cooking modality. Q3X / Q3XN runs from 7,500 to 26,500 BTU on a stainless steel oval burner — engineered for low-and-slow barbecue, not high-temp searing.
Charmaster vs Flare Buster. Plain X models (P3X, P4X) ship with Charmaster Briquets. F-suffix models (P3XF, P4XF) and Super Premium ship with Flare Buster ceramic flavor enhancers.
Mounting choice is independent of grill head. Cart, in-ground post, patio post, or built-in sleeve — every Premium and Super Premium head fits all Broilmaster mountings.
The Broilmaster Brand
Parent company, history, and brand position
Broilmaster has been manufacturing premium gas grills since 1966. The brand is owned by Empire Comfort Systems Inc., headquartered in Belleville, Illinois, which acquired the Broilmaster Grill Division in November 2001. The brand's lineage starts with the original G-1000 — the model that introduced the patented stainless steel Bow Tie Burner fitted into a heavy-duty cast aluminum head with the trademarked rib pattern on the lid that still defines the Premium and Super Premium series today.
Brand position: Broilmaster sits in the premium tier of residential outdoor gas grills, with a buyer profile that values long-warranty cast aluminum and stainless steel construction over disposable big-box grills. The brand is sold through specialty hearth and patio dealers, and Empire publishes a consolidated warranty document that covers every series uniformly — Limited Lifetime against rust-through on the housing, cooking grids, griddles, and the Bow Tie Burner.
The lineup we carry covers four series. The B Series Stainless is a 304 stainless steel built-in or freestanding grill with a rear rotisserie burner standard. The Premium and Super Premium series share the cast aluminum head and Bow Tie Burner architecture. The Specialty Slow Cooker (Q3X) is a separate product entirely — a low-temperature barbecue cooker rather than a high-temp grill. Browse the full Broilmaster gas grill collection for current pricing and inventory across all four series.
The Four Series
What actually distinguishes B Series, Premium, Super Premium, and Slow Cooker
The four Broilmaster series we carry differ on three fundamental axes: construction material (304 stainless vs cast aluminum), burner architecture (cast straight vs Bow Tie vs oval), and cooking modality (high-temp grilling vs low-temp barbecue). Every other distinction — flavor enhancement, smoker shutter, griddle, mounting — is configurable.
B Series Stainless (BSB324, BSB405)
304 stainless steel grill head built around 4 cast stainless steel straight burners (32") or 5 burners (40"), each rated at 14,000 BTU, plus a rear rotisserie burner. Total main burner output is 56,000 BTU on the BSB324 and 70,000 BTU on the BSB405. Ignition is Push & Turn Flame Thrower with no battery required. The B Series ships with a rear rotisserie burner standard — the only Broilmaster series that includes one in the head. A 316 marine-grade stainless steel variant (BSB324MG) is available for coastal installations where chloride exposure makes molybdenum-content steel the right choice. Designed primarily as an outdoor-kitchen built-in (with the optional built-in sleeve) but also available in a freestanding "Loaded" trim that adds interior work lights and control panel lights.
Premium Series (P3X, P3XN, P3XF, P3XFN, P4X, P4XN, P4XF, P4XFN, plus P3PK packages)
Heavy-duty cast aluminum grill head with the patented stainless steel Bow Tie Burner. The "3" denotes the larger 695 sq in head (P3X family); the "4" denotes the smaller 473 sq in head (P4X family). Both head sizes deliver 40,000 BTU with separate left/right control for indirect cooking. Multi-level stainless steel cooking grids adjust to three levels on P3 and two levels on P4. Flavor enhancement varies by suffix: plain X models (P3X, P4X) ship with Charmaster Briquets; F-suffix models (P3XF, P4XF) ship with Flare Buster ceramic flavor enhancers. The N suffix indicates Natural Gas; no suffix indicates Liquid Propane. P3PK5/N packages bundle the P3X head with a stainless steel cart base; P3PK6N adds an in-ground post mount; P3PK7N adds a patio post.
Super Premium Series (P3SX, P3SXN)
Same 695 sq in cast aluminum head and Bow Tie Burner as the P3X, but with every stainless steel option pre-checked: Smoker Shutter standard, stainless steel griddle standard, stainless steel folding Retract-A-Rack standard, Flare Buster ceramic flavor enhancers standard, taller lid with adjustable lid stop, and stainless steel control panel. The Super Premium is essentially a P3X delivered fully loaded for the buyer who wants every accessory factory-installed rather than added later. Fits all Broilmaster mountings — built-in sleeve, cart, in-ground post, or patio post.
Specialty Slow Cooker (Q3X, Q3XN)
A different product entirely. The Q3X uses a stainless steel oval burner that ranges from 7,500 BTU to 26,500 BTU — engineered for the low temperatures, long times, and steady moisture that traditional barbecue requires. 420 sq in of multi-level stainless steel cooking grids sit above a full-area stainless steel drip pan with a drain valve. Drippings vaporize on the drip pan to produce flavorful smoke; excess fat and liquid drain to an external drip bucket, which eliminates the flare-ups that ruin slow cooks on high-temp grills. A built-in smoker tray accepts wood chips or pellets. Cooking modes: slow cooking, smoking, steaming, and grilling. The Q3X head fits all standard Broilmaster mountings — cart, in-ground post, patio post, or built-in sleeve.

Mounting Options
Built-in, cart, and post configurations
Every Premium, Super Premium, and Slow Cooker grill head fits the same set of Broilmaster mounting accessories. The B Series Stainless is purpose-built for built-in island installation (with an optional sleeve) but is also available in freestanding "Loaded" trim. Mounting choice is independent of grill head — pick the head you want, then pick the base.
Built-in (island) installation
Drop-in installation into a masonry, frame, or prefab island opening. The B Series uses a 8½″ H × 20½″ D cutout (31″ W on BSB324, 38″ W on BSB405) with an optional stainless steel sleeve for the rough opening. The P3X and H3X heads use the BHAX2 stainless steel built-in kit. The Q3X head fits the standard P3-class island opening. Built-in installations require non-combustible framing per the Broilmaster owner's manual; LP installations also require vent registers in the cabinet.
Cart configurations
- PCB-1 — stainless steel cart for P3X family.
- DCB-1 — black painted steel cart for P3X family.
- PSCB-1 — stainless steel storage cart (P3PK5 / P3PK5N use this).
- Package Cart — black painted steel cart bundled with grill head in package SKUs.
Post mounting
- SS48-G / BL48-G — stainless or black-painted in-ground post; bottom anchors below the patio surface in concrete (P3PK6N uses SS48-G).
- SS26-P / BL26-P — stainless or black-painted patio post with cast iron base; bolts to existing patio (P3PK7N uses SS26-P).
Mounting choice is independent of grill head
If you want a P3X head (Charmaster Briquets) on an in-ground post, you're choosing two separate SKUs unless you order the P3PK6N package. The package SKUs (P3PK5/N, P3PK6N, P3PK7N) bundle a head and a base together at a coordinated price; the standalone "head only" SKUs let you mix and match.
Flavor Enhancement Systems
Charmaster Briquets, Flare Buster, and the Slow Cooker drip pan
Broilmaster uses three different systems to handle the drippings that hit a hot grill, and each is matched to a specific cooking style. Knowing which system ships with which model — and why — usually settles the choice between a P3X and a P3XF.
Charmaster Briquets
Porcelain-coated steel briquets sit between the burner and the cooking grid. They absorb drippings and re-radiate heat across the cooking surface, giving a charcoal-style flavor profile. Standard on P3X, P3XN, P4X, P4XN, and the P3PK packages built around the P3X head. Lower up-front cost than ceramic enhancers; lower replacement cost over time.
Flare Buster Ceramic Flavor Enhancers
Uniform ceramic plates with consistent dimensions and thickness, designed for more even heat distribution and active flare-up suppression. Standard on P3XF, P3XFN, P4XF, P4XFN, and on every Super Premium (P3SX, P3SXN). Carries a 5-year warranty against rust-through. The "F" suffix in a Premium model SKU indicates Flare Buster.
Slow Cooker drip pan + external drip bucket
Q3X / Q3XN does not use briquets or ceramic enhancers. Instead, a full-area stainless steel drip pan sits below the cooking grids, with a drain valve that channels excess fat and liquid out to an external drip bucket on the cart. Drippings that fall on the drip pan vaporize and rise back into the cooking chamber as flavorful smoke; excess liquid drains away before flare-ups can develop. This is the only Broilmaster head designed around a drain-and-vaporize system rather than a briquet-and-radiate one — and it's a big part of why the Q3X holds steady low temperatures without ruining slow-cooked food.
How to Choose
Three questions: what you cook, where you'll put it, and your budget
Three questions decide the right Broilmaster: what you actually cook, where you're putting it, and what you're spending.
1. What kind of cooking do you do?
If you cook traditional barbecue — slow-smoked brisket, ribs, pork shoulder, brined turkey — and you want a single grill that does that style well, the Specialty Slow Cooker (Q3X) is the right tool. Its 7,500-to-26,500 BTU range, stainless steel oval burner, and drip-pan-and-drain-bucket architecture are engineered for low-and-slow. It will not sear a steak the way a P3X will, and it is not a substitute for a high-temp grill.
If you cook conventionally — burgers, steaks, chicken, vegetables, occasional rotisserie — and you want one grill to handle 90% of the patio cooking, the Premium P3X family is the workhorse. The 40,000 BTU Bow Tie Burner with separate left/right control gives you direct-grill, indirect-roast, and (with the Smoker Shutter accessory) light smoking from one head.
If you want every Broilmaster accessory factory-installed — Smoker Shutter, griddle, folding Retract-A-Rack, Flare Buster — and you don't want to add them piecemeal later, the Super Premium (P3SX / P3SXN) is the loaded P3X. Same head, every option pre-checked.
If you're building a permanent outdoor kitchen and want the most cooking area + a built-in rear rotisserie burner + 304 (or 316 marine-grade) stainless steel construction, the B Series Stainless is the highest-output choice — 56,000 BTU on the BSB324 (32") or 70,000 BTU on the BSB405 (40"), plus the rear rotisserie standard.
2. Where are you putting it?
- Permanent built-in island: B Series Stainless is the natural fit (rear rotisserie standard, 4 or 5 main burners, marine-grade option for coastal exposure). Premium and Super Premium also work via the BHAX2 built-in kit.
- Freestanding on a patio: Premium with a cart base — PCB-1 (stainless), DCB-1 (black painted), or PSCB-1 (storage). The P3PK5 / P3PK5N packages bundle the P3X head and stainless steel cart at a coordinated price.
- Mounted to a deck or pool surround with no patio underneath: in-ground post (SS48-G or BL48-G) — bottom anchors in concrete below the surface. The P3PK6N package bundles a P3X NG head with a stainless in-ground post.
- Bolted to an existing patio: patio post with cast iron base (SS26-P or BL26-P). The P3PK7N package bundles a P3X NG head with a stainless patio post.
- Slow cooking on a patio: Q3X (LP) or Q3XN (NG) head on a Broilmaster cart, post, or built-in sleeve.
3. What's your budget?
Approximate price ranges for the variants we carry, at 2026 manufacturer pricing:
- Specialty Slow Cooker: $1,059 – $1,079 (Q3X LP head $1,079, Q3XN NG head $1,059).
- Premium Series: $1,349 – $2,049 (P4 family from $1,349, P3 family from $1,479, cart and post packages from $1,669 to $2,049).
- Super Premium: $1,869 – $1,889 (P3SX / P3SXN — head only).
- B Series Stainless: $1,524 – $2,887 (BSB253 Basic Edition from $1,524, BSB324 from $2,396, BSB405 from $2,887, marine-grade BSB324MG from $2,832).
The Premium-to-Super-Premium gap (~$300 to $400) buys you the Smoker Shutter, griddle, folding Retract-A-Rack, and Flare Buster all factory-installed. If you'd add three of those four accessories to a P3X yourself anyway, the Super Premium is the cheaper path.
Common configurations
- Outdoor kitchen built-in, 6+ guests, full rotisserie use: BSB405N or BSB405P — 40" 5-burner B Series with rear rotisserie burner standard, 853 sq in total cooking area with warming rack.
- Coastal install (within 2 miles of saltwater): BSB324MGN or BSB324MGP — 316 marine-grade stainless steel resists chloride pitting that 304 stainless will eventually show.
- Patio cookout for a family of 4–6, want every accessory included: P3SX (LP) or P3SXN (NG) — Super Premium with Smoker Shutter, griddle, Retract-A-Rack, and Flare Buster all standard. Add a cart, post, or built-in kit separately.
- Cart-mounted Premium for weekly grilling: P3PK5 or P3PK5N — P3X head on a stainless steel cart, package-priced. Add a side burner accessory if you want one.
- Compact patio, P4 head on a post: P4XN or P4XFN head + SS26-P patio post (or BL26-P black-painted) — 473 sq in head, fewer accessories than the Super Premium, lower price entry into the Bow Tie Burner architecture.
- Traditional barbecue setup: Q3X (LP) or Q3XN (NG) head paired with a stainless or black-painted cart base. Add a built-in sleeve later if you decide to convert to an island install.
