The Broilmaster Specialty Slow Cooker Gas Grill (Q3X / Q3XN) is engineered for traditional barbecue — low temperatures, long cooks, and steady moisture — not high-temp grilling.

Best for:

  • Pitmasters who want a dedicated slow cooker for brisket, ribs, pork shoulder, and brined turkey without standing over a charcoal smoker.
  • Cooks who want smoking, steaming, and grilling in one head, with a built-in smoker tray for wood chips or pellets.
  • Patio buyers who already own a high-temp grill and want a separate cooker for low-and-slow.

A stainless steel oval burner runs from 7,500 BTU to 26,500 BTU — the low-end range matters for traditional barbecue, where holding a steady 225-275°F for 8-12 hours is the whole point. 420 sq in of multi-level stainless steel cooking grids sit above a full-area stainless steel drip pan with a drain valve. Drippings vaporize on the drip pan to produce flavorful smoke; excess fat and liquid drain to an external drip bucket, eliminating flare-ups.

Fits all Broilmaster mountings — cart, in-ground post, patio post, or built-in sleeve. Q3X is Liquid Propane; Q3XN is Natural Gas.

Why Choose the Broilmaster Specialty Series Slow Cooker Gas Grills?

Real low-temperature range. The stainless steel oval burner ranges from 7,500 BTU to 26,500 BTU. Most gas grills can't hold below 250°F — they're engineered for high-temp searing. The Q3X is engineered the other way: holding a steady low temperature for 8-12 hours is what the head does, not what it tolerates.

Drip pan + drain bucket eliminates flare-ups. Slow cooks fail when fat from a brisket or pork shoulder hits the burner and flares — the food gets coated with bitter smoke, or worse, burns. The Q3X uses a full-area stainless steel drip pan with a drain valve: drippings fall onto the pan, vaporize as flavorful smoke, and excess fat drains down a channel to an external bucket. No flare-ups, no burner contact.

Built-in smoker tray for wood chips and pellets. The Q3X integrates a smoker tray that accepts wood chips or pellets directly — no separate smoke box accessory required. Cooking modes: slow cooking, smoking, steaming, and grilling, from one head.

See the Broilmaster grill comparison guide for Slow Cooker vs Premium vs Super Premium vs B Series side-by-side, including why the Q3X is not a substitute for a high-temp grill.

Broilmaster Specialty Series Slow Cooker Gas Grills Installation Overview

The Q3X and Q3XN heads fit all standard Broilmaster mountings: cart, in-ground post, patio post, or built-in sleeve. Required clearances apply regardless of mounting: 16″ minimum from sides to combustibles, 18″ minimum from rear, and no combustible overhead structure (no carports, awnings, or covered porches). Natural gas inlet pressure is 7.0″ water column; total demand is 26,500 BTU/hr at peak (the Q3X runs as low as 7,500 BTU at minimum). Electric Ignitor uses a single AA alkaline battery. The external drip bucket attaches to the cart or post mounting and must remain accessible for emptying after long slow cooks. See the Broilmaster grill comparison guide for cutout and mounting details across the Q3X and the rest of the Broilmaster lineup.

FAQ – All Your Questions Answered

What is the Broilmaster Q3X Slow Cooker designed for?

Traditional barbecue. The Q3X is engineered for low temperatures (the burner ranges from 7,500 BTU to 26,500 BTU), long cook times (8-12 hours of steady output), and the steady moisture and smoke environment that brisket, ribs, pork shoulder, and brined turkey require. It is not a high-temp searing grill — the temperature range is the whole point of the design. Cooking modes: slow cooking, smoking, steaming, and grilling.

How long do Broilmaster grills last?

The Slow Cooker Q3X uses the same Broilmaster warranty as the Premium Series: Limited Lifetime against rust-through on the heavy-duty cast aluminum grill housing (excluding paint), the multi-level stainless steel cooking grids, the stainless steel cart and mounting components, and the stainless steel built-in components (door kit, tilt-out LP tank door, vent register kit, side shelf DPA153). 2 years on the porcelain-coated steel briquet racks and chrome-plated warming rack (where applicable). 1 year on valves, knobs, ignitors, hoses, fittings, grease cups, and the drip bucket.

Does the Q3X Slow Cooker have a smoker tray?

Yes. The Q3X integrates a built-in smoker tray that accepts wood chips or pellets directly — no separate smoke box accessory required. Combined with the oval burner's low-end 7,500 BTU output, the smoker tray turns the Q3X into a wood-flavored barbecue cooker without requiring charcoal or a separate offset smoker.

How does the Q3X drip pan eliminate flare-ups?

The Q3X is built around a full-area stainless steel drip pan that sits below the cooking grids and above the burner. Drippings from food fall onto the pan and vaporize — the vaporized drippings rise back into the cooking chamber as flavorful smoke, but the food itself is never in direct contact with hot fat. Excess fat and liquid drain through a drain channel and out of the grill to an external drip bucket, so they never reach the burner. This is what makes long, fatty cooks (brisket, pork shoulder) work in the Q3X without the flare-ups that ruin slow cooks on conventional gas grills.

Where can I buy a Broilmaster Slow Cooker grill?

Serene Yards carries the active Slow Cooker variants: Q3X (Liquid Propane head only) and Q3XN (Natural Gas head only). Both are head-only — pair with a separately ordered cart, in-ground post, patio post, or built-in sleeve. Browse the full Broilmaster collection for current pricing across all four series.

About the Manufacturer

Traditional barbecue is a low-temperature, long-time, steady-moisture cooking method — and a high-temp gas grill is the wrong tool for it. The Specialty Slow Cooker (Q3X / Q3XN) is Broilmaster's purpose-built answer.

A stainless steel oval burner that runs as low as 7,500 BTU, paired with a full-area drip pan and an external drip bucket that channel fat away from the burner before flare-ups can develop. Built for brisket, ribs, pork shoulder, brined turkey, and the cuts that need 8 to 12 hours at 225-275°F to do right.

Broilmaster has manufactured outdoor cooking equipment since 1966 and is owned today by Empire Comfort Systems Inc., headquartered in Belleville, Illinois (Empire acquired the Broilmaster Grill Division in November 2001). The Slow Cooker sits within the brand as the dedicated barbecue cooker — separate from the high-temp Premium, Super Premium, and B Series gas grills.
