Shipping policy
Where We Ship
We ship to the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia. We do not currently ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, or internationally.
Shipping Rates
Standard-size planters ship free by ground.
Large and oversized planters ship by freight truck for a flat $395, free on orders over $2,000.
Each product page states which method applies to the size you have selected.
Order Processing
You'll receive an order confirmation email immediately after purchase, and a shipping confirmation with tracking once your order ships.
Most planters are finished to order. Because each piece is hand-finished to order, please allow 3 to 5 business days for production. That covers every matte, satin, and metallic finish. Gloss finishes require extra curing time, so please allow 5 to 7 business days before your order ships. Some planters ship from stock in 1 to 3 business days, and the product page shows the lead time for that planter.
Delivery Times
Standard-size planters ship by ground carrier and usually arrive 2 to 7 business days after shipment.
Large or oversized planters ship on a pallet by LTL freight. Transit is usually 3 to 5 business days once the pallet leaves, and up to 7 business days to the Mountain states and the West Coast. You will receive tracking when the pallet leaves, and we will confirm the delivery window with you once the carrier books it. The carrier will contact you to arrange delivery, so please include a phone number with your address. For residential addresses, carriers cannot guarantee a specific delivery time window.
Freight Delivery
Freight planters arrive on a pallet. Standard freight is curbside delivery only, and the driver brings your order to the curb and lowers it with a liftgate. Moving it beyond that point is your responsibility, so plan for a second person to help.
Residential addresses and commercial sites without a loading dock require liftgate service, which is included in the freight rate.
Freight shipments are delivered by appointment. Please be reachable when the carrier calls and available on the day you agree. If an appointment is scheduled and no one is available at the agreed time, the carrier charges for redelivery, reloading and rescheduling. On Cosapots orders that fee is $200, and additional storage or redelivery charges may apply depending on the carrier. On Jay Scotts orders the carrier's charge is passed on at cost.
Order and Address Changes
Check your order confirmation as soon as it arrives. If anything is wrong, contact us immediately at customerservice@sereneyards.com with your order number. Planters are finished to order and move quickly, so the window to make a change is short.
Changing your item, size, color or finish
Before an order enters production we can usually change it at no cost. Once it is in production, a change may carry a fee covering labor and materials already committed. We will confirm any cost with you before anything is charged.
Changing your delivery address
We can usually correct an address at no cost before an order ships. Once an order has shipped, changing the address becomes a carrier reconsignment, and the fee must be paid before the shipment can be rerouted. On Cosapots orders that fee is $200, charged directly by the freight carrier. On Jay Scotts orders the carrier's reconsignment charge is passed on at cost.
Receiving a Freight Delivery: Damage Claims
Inspect the shipment before you sign. Note any damage on the bill of lading or delivery receipt before signing, whether to the boxes, the planter, or the packing material. You are entitled to open each box and inspect the goods; if the driver will not wait, write on the paperwork that you could not check for concealed damage.
Accepting the delivery is usually the faster route. The carrier needs to inspect the planter and its packaging in order to process a claim, so note the damage on the paperwork, accept the shipment, and contact us.
If you would rather refuse the delivery, the rules differ by manufacturer. A Jay Scotts planter may be refused when it arrives visibly damaged or not intact. A Cosapots planter should not be refused, because under the manufacturer's terms a refused shipment carries a 30% restocking fee plus shipping in both directions. Your order confirmation shows which brand you ordered.
Report damage to us in writing within 24 hours of delivery at customerservice@sereneyards.com, with photos of the damage, the cartons and the packing material, and keep all packaging until the claim is resolved.
Damage noted at delivery and reported this way is covered. Contact us and we'll make it right, either by replacing the planter or refunding you. Damage not noted at the time of delivery is much harder to resolve, because the carrier claim depends on that record.
Returns
Return windows differ by brand. Jay Scotts planters are 14 days from delivery, refunded as Serene Yards store credit. Cosapots planters are 30 days from delivery, refunded to your original payment method. A 30% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are non-refundable.
Freight orders are final sale except for a defect or shipping damage, and a planter drilled for drainage is final sale.
Full terms are in our Return and Refund Policy.
Designers, Architects, and Project Buyers
Please contact us for our trade program. Freight is quoted per project, and multi-planter orders often ship more efficiently than single pieces.
