Above about four feet a planter stops being an object you place and becomes something you specify. The logistics change, the installation changes, and the reason for choosing fiberglass over anything else stops being preference and becomes practical.

Below about 36 in a planter is an object in a space. Above 48 in it starts defining the space instead, marking a threshold, closing a boundary or giving a facade a base. That is a different design decision, which is why pieces at this size are usually specified rather than picked.

Everything at this size ships by freight

Extra large pieces exceed what a parcel carrier will take, so they travel by freight with a delivery appointment. The shipping method is published per size, and the charge and the free-freight threshold are shown at checkout rather than estimated here.

Weight is what makes fiberglass the only option

A 60 in planter in concrete or stone is a crane decision. The same form in hand-laid fiberglass composite can be placed by two or three people, which is what puts pieces at this scale on roof decks, podiums and suspended slabs at all. Each size lists its own weight.

How does freight delivery work?

Freight means a carrier calls to arrange a delivery window and brings the piece to the kerb rather than into the property. Plan for someone to be there and for the move from kerb to position to be yours. Note any damage on the delivery paperwork before signing, and report it in writing within two business days.

How do I get a 72 inch planter into position?

Plan the route before it arrives, because the piece is awkward rather than heavy. Two or three people can carry most of these; what stops them is a doorway, a turn on a stair or a lift car. Check the exterior dimensions against the narrowest point on the route.

Can a planter this size go on a roof deck?

Often yes, and the weight is the reason. Fiberglass composite at this scale weighs a fraction of concrete or stone, which is why these appear on podium decks and terraces. The filled weight against the structural loading is a question for the building's engineer.

What is the lead time?

How do I fill a planter this large?

You do not fill the whole volume with soil. Most of the depth below the root zone can be filled with a lighter inert material, which cuts weight and cost, and drainage still has to work through whatever you use. Read the interior depth on the size table before ordering soil.
