Dimplex Ignite Evolve Linear Electric Fireplace Installation Overview

The Ignite Evolve installs in a framed wall opening in two configurations:
partially recessed into a 2x4 stud wall at 3-1/2" framing depth, or fully
flush-mounted into a 2x6 wall at 5-1/2" depth. It supports hardwire connection
at 120V (1,500W, 12.5A) or 240V (2,500W, 10.4A) at all four sizes; breaker
size is not specified in the installation manual and requires a qualified

FAQ – All Your Questions Answered

Does the Dimplex Ignite Evolve require venting or a gas line?

No. The Ignite Evolve is 100% electric and is classified as non-venting in the
Dimplex installation manual. It requires no gas line, no flue, and no chimney.
It operates on a standard electrical supply at either 120V or 240V and is
hardwire capable at both voltages. No combustion occurs, so no venting clearances
apply. The unit is cULus listed (file E71416) and meets UL-2021 and CSA C22.2
No. 46 standards.

What does it cost to run the Dimplex Ignite Evolve?

Running cost depends on your local electricity rate, shown on your utility bill
as cents per kWh. To calculate your hourly cost: divide the wattage by 1,000
to get kilowatts, then multiply by your rate.

Ignite Evolve power draw:
Full heat at 120V: 1,500W = 1.5 kW per hour
Full heat at 240V: 2,500W = 2.5 kW per hour
Flame-only mode: LED-only draw (exact wattage not specified in the Dimplex
installation manual; consult your owners manual for the flame-only figure)

Example at the approximate U.S. average of 16 cents per kWh:
120V heat: 1.5 kW x $0.16 = $0.24 per hour
240V heat: 2.5 kW x $0.16 = $0.40 per hour

Electricity rates range from under 10 cents in some states to over 30 cents in
others. Multiply the kW figure by your actual utility rate for an accurate estimate.

Can the Ignite Evolve flame effect be used without heat?

Yes. The Dimplex Ignite Evolve supports three operating modes as documented in
the installation manual: flame only, heat only, and flame and heat combined.
Flame-only mode runs the LED flame effect and media bed without activating the
heater, making the fireplace usable year-round regardless of season or ambient
temperature. This mode is controlled via the Flame Connect app, the included
multi-function remote, or the built-in hidden touch panel.

What warranty does the Dimplex Ignite Evolve come with?

The Ignite Evolve carries a 5-year limited warranty for indoor installations
and a 1-year limited warranty for outdoor installations, as documented in the
Dimplex installation manual. The warranty is valid only for products purchased
through authorized dealers. At Dimplex's discretion, warranty service covers repair
or replacement of defective components; the maximum recoverable amount is
limited to the product's purchase price. Shipping costs for warranty returns
are the customer's responsibility.

Can I mount a television above the Dimplex Ignite Evolve?

Dimplex does not state a single minimum clearance distance for television
installation above the Ignite Evolve. Instead, the installation manual documents
temperature zones above the unit using a reference chart: areas closest to the
top of the unit can reach temperatures greater than 65°C (149°F), areas further
above can exceed 40°C (104°F), and areas beyond that zone fall below 40°C
(104°F). The specific zone a television falls into depends on the combination
of how far above the top of the unit it is mounted and how far it projects
horizontally. The manual instructs that for any temperature-sensitive object
mounted above the fireplace, you must follow the recommendations provided by
that object's manufacturer for placement over a heater. Consult the Dimplex
installation manual's overhang chart and your television manufacturer's
specifications before mounting.

What electrical circuit does the Dimplex Ignite Evolve require?

The Ignite Evolve operates at either 120V or 240V and supports hardwire
connection at both voltages. At 120V it draws 1,500 watts and 12.5 amps. At
240V it draws 2,500 watts and 10.4 amps. A specific breaker size is not stated
in the Dimplex installation manual. For outdoor installations, a ground-fault
protected circuit is recommended. Consult a qualified electrician to specify
the correct circuit and breaker for your installation. All electrical connections
must comply with local building code requirements.
