About Empire Stoves
Empire Stoves manufactures the Gateway Series wood-burning stoves. The Gateway lineup is a three-model product family built around a common platform: 5/16 inch thick steel construction, firebrick-lined firebox, high-heat C-Cast ceramic baffle, ceramic glass door, single-lever one-handle air control, integrated air wash glass system, and no-mess ash pan with cover.
Three progressive sizes
The Gateway lineup is structured as three sizes of the same non-catalytic wood stove. The combustion technology, control architecture, glass system, ash pan design, baffle material, and build quality are identical across all three. What scales is the firebox volume, log length capacity, burn time, peak BTU output, and recommended heating area.
Gateway 1700 heats 500 to 1,800 sq ft with 1.86 cu ft firebox, 7-hour burn, 65,000 BTU peak.
Gateway 2300 heats 500 to 2,100 sq ft with 2.4 cu ft firebox, 8-hour burn, 75,000 BTU peak (the highest LHV efficiency in the series at 77 percent).
Gateway 3500 heats 1,000 to 2,700 sq ft with 3.5 cu ft firebox, 10-hour burn, 110,000 BTU peak, lowest emissions in the series at 1.6 g/h.

Lifetime coverage on combustion chamber welds and cast iron door frame (includes 5 years labor); ceramic glass, plating (manufacturing defect only), and step top. 7-year coverage on surrounds, heat shields, ash drawer, pedestal, C-Cast baffle, secondary air tubes, deflectors and supports. 5-year coverage on handle assembly, glass retainers, air control mechanism. 1-year coverage on paint, gaskets, insulation, firebricks. Original purchaser only with proof of purchase.
How to choose between Gateway models
Use the Empire Gateway comparison guide for the full side-by-side. The short answer: select by square footage. The 1700 covers small to medium homes (500-1,800 sq ft); the 2300 covers larger homes (500-2,100 sq ft) and is the default primary-heat choice; the 3500 is the whole-home heating model for spacious homes and cold climates.
