Fire Magic Legacy charcoal grills deliver the wood-and-coals path through the Fire Magic lineup — 304 stainless steel built-ins and post-mount with smoker hood, adjustable charcoal pan, and front-loading charcoal door, plus the powder-coated Lift-A-Fire 3339 entry-tier built-in.

Best for buyers who want authentic charcoal flavor in a permanent outdoor installation — an island built-in, a patio post mount, or a smaller charcoal head alongside an existing gas grill. Five SKUs cover the lineup: 12-SC01C-A 24″ built-in, 14-SC01C-A 30″ built-in, 22-SC01C 24″ post-mount (patio P6 or in-ground G6), and the Lift-A-Fire 3339 24″ entry tier.

The SC01C series ships with a stainless smoker hood, adjustable air shutters, analog thermometer, crank-handle adjustable charcoal pan (raise for searing, lower for smoking), removable charcoal shield for indirect cooking, and front-loading charcoal door. The Lift-A-Fire 3339 uses powder-coated steel with the same adjustable pan but no hood and no thermometer; cooking grids are ordered separately.

Charcoal cooking, in a Fire Magic chassis, no gas line or electrical outlet required.

Residential Use: This warranty applies to single-family residential use in the USA and Canada.
Labor Costs: This warranty does not cover labor or labor-related charges for repairs.

Built-in cutouts (12-SC01C-A 24″): 26¼″ × 19¾″ × 12″; (14-SC01C-A 30″): 32¼″ × 19¾″ × 12″; (Lift-A-Fire 3339 24″): 24¾″ × 17¾″ × 12″ — note the Lift-A-Fire uses a different chassis depth. Cutout heights are 12″ across the lineup (½″ deeper than the gas-grill 11½″ to accommodate the charcoal pan mechanism). Post-mount 22-SC01C installs on a 304 stainless pedestal — patio bolt-down (P6) or in-ground concrete footing (G6, 18″ below ground). 18″ minimum side-wall clearance and 4″–18″ rear-wall clearance (depending on combustible vs non-combustible construction); corner walls 24″. No gas connection, no electrical outlet — Legacy charcoal grills run on charcoal only. Light with a chimney starter; manage temperature via the adjustable charcoal pan and hood air shutters. Does a Legacy charcoal grill require gas or electricity?

No. Fire Magic Legacy charcoal grills run on charcoal only — no gas line, no electrical outlet, no batteries required. The grill uses a manually loaded charcoal pan with adjustable height (raised or lowered via a crank handle on the SC01C series for direct or indirect cooking) and a stainless steel smoker hood with adjustable air shutters for temperature control. Light the charcoal with a chimney starter; optional wood chunks add smoke flavor. The front-loading charcoal door allows refilling without lifting the hood.

What is the difference between SC01C and Lift-A-Fire?

Construction and accessories. The SC01C series (12-SC01C-A 24″, 14-SC01C-A 30″, 22-SC01C 24″ post-mount) is built from 304 stainless steel with a stainless smoker hood, adjustable charcoal pan with crank handle, front-loading charcoal door, analog thermometer, and adjustable air shutters — all included. The Lift-A-Fire 3339 (24″ built-in) is powder-coated steel construction with the same adjustable charcoal pan and front door but no smoker hood and no analog thermometer. Cooking grids on the Lift-A-Fire 3339 are ordered separately as accessories.

How do I adjust cooking temperature on a Legacy charcoal grill?

Two controls. First, the adjustable charcoal pan beneath the cooking grid — turn the crank handle on the front of the SC01C series to raise the pan closer to the grid (higher heat for searing) or lower it away from the grid (lower heat for indirect cooking and smoking). Second, the smoker hood air shutters on the SC01C series — open the shutters wide to draw more air through the charcoal (higher temperature) or close them down for low-and-slow smoking. Both adjustments together let you change cooking temperature without adding or removing charcoal mid-cook.

What clearances does a Legacy charcoal grill require?

Per the Fire Magic owner's manual, the same clearance envelope applies as the gas-grill lineup: side wall minimum 18″; rear wall 4″ from non-combustible, 14″ from protected combustible, 18″ from unprotected combustible; backsplash 4″ minimum (non-combustible); corner wall 24″. Maintain a horizontal clearance of 18″ in all directions from any combustible material. The grill cannot be operated under a combustible overhead structure unless an approved heavy-duty vent hood is installed and operated whenever the grill is in use.
