What mobile home approved means

Mobile home approved wood stoves are listed by the manufacturer for installation in a manufactured home that conforms to 24 CFR Part 3280 (HUD) or CAN/CSA-Z240 MH (Canada). The approval requires three things in combination: the stove itself must be listed for mobile home use, the installation must include an outside air kit that supplies combustion air from outside the home, and the connector pipe must be double wall (single wall pipe is strictly prohibited in any mobile home installation across every model).

Why the outside air kit matters

Mobile homes are more tightly sealed than typical site-built homes, with less natural air infiltration. Combustion air for a wood stove must come from somewhere; without an outside air kit, the stove can pull air from inside the home, creating negative pressure that disrupts draft and can pull combustion gases back into the living space. The outside air kit ducts combustion air directly from outdoors into the stove, isolating combustion from the indoor air balance.

Models in this collection

Enerzone Solution 1.4, 1.7, 2.3 are mobile home approved (the entire Solution Series). The Enerzone Harmony 2.3 is also approved. The Buck Stove Model 21 is the only Buck Stove wood stove approved for mobile home installation. The Empire Gateway 1700, 2300, and 3500 are all approved for mobile home installation with double wall pipe.

Installation requirements

Per the owner's manuals: install in accordance with 24 CFR Part 3280 (HUD), use double wall connector pipe only, include the outside air kit, bolt the unit to the structure per the manual's mounting procedure, and do not install in sleeping rooms. Floor protection and clearances are specified per model. Always consult the local authority having jurisdiction.
