Lisbon Tall Round Planter

Regular price $325.99

Finish: Matte Bright White
Add drainage holes · free

Outdoor planters usually need drainage. Indoors, most people leave them sealed.

Which should I choose?

Why it matters
Rain and irrigation collect in a sealed planter with nowhere to go. In cold climates that water can freeze and expand, which may damage the planter. Standing water is also hard on most plants.

Do I need it?

  • Outdoors: almost always, especially anywhere that freezes.
  • Indoors: usually not. A sealed planter works as a cachepot or holds a nursery liner, which is what most people want on a floor they would rather keep dry.

What we do
Drilling is free and done before your planter ships, to the manufacturer's specification:

  • 1 to 2 inch holes every 12 inches of planter length.
  • For example, a 60 inch planter gets 4 to 5 holes.
  • If you prefer to drill your own later, use the same spacing. Holes outside these guidelines are not covered by the warranty.

One thing to know

  • Drilling cannot be undone, so a drilled planter is final sale.

Shipping & Delivery

Made to order
Each planter is hand-finished when you order it. Allow 3 to 5 business days of production before your order ships. Gloss finishes need 5 to 7.

Free ground shipping
This size ships free by ground within the contiguous 48 states. You will receive a tracking number by email the moment your order ships; delivery usually takes another 2 to 7 business days.

Returns
30 days from delivery, in new and unused condition in the original packaging, with a 30% restocking fee.

If it arrives damaged
Inspect the shipment before you sign. Note any damage on the bill of lading or delivery receipt before signing — to the boxes, the planter, or the packing material. A delivery that arrives visibly damaged or not intact may also be refused outright. You are entitled to open each box and inspect the goods; if the driver will not wait, write on the paperwork that you could not check for concealed damage. Report it to us in writing within 24 hours of delivery at customerservice@sereneyards.com, with photos of the damage, the cartons and the packing material, and keep all packaging until the claim is resolved. Damage noted at delivery and reported this way is covered — contact us and we'll make it right, either by replacing the planter or refunding you. Damage not noted at the time of delivery is much harder to resolve, because the carrier claim depends on that record. Full details are in our Shipping Policy.

The Lisbon is a tall round planter that does not narrow where you expect it to. The wall runs close to straight for most of its height and only turns inward over the bottom third, coming to rest on a foot smaller than the body.

That means the shape lifts rather than tapers, and it means the inside is close to a cylinder. A twenty-four inch Lisbon has an opening nearly twenty-one inches across. The soil volume follows the exterior instead of being given up to the silhouette, so a shrub or a small tree has somewhere to root rather than a cone to be squeezed into.

Three sizes, and the largest changes character. The two smaller ones stand at about one and four-fifths their own width and read as columns; the twenty-four is squatter, closer to one and a half, and reads as a wide vessel. Choose on that rather than on capacity alone, since the difference is visible across a courtyard. A three-foot column at forty pounds is fiberglass rather than stone: non-porous, so it does not take up the water that expands on freezing, and hand-finished to order in the color you choose.

Lisbon Tall Round Planter in the studio

A tall, calm column, plainly round.

Built to last

Every piece we carry is chosen to last, indoors or out, and look considered for years, not seasons.

Built to last

Inside or out

Non-porous fiberglass with a UV-resistant finish: it does not absorb the water that expands on freezing, so it holds its shape through winter and its color through summer.

Tall and upright

A column, not a cone

The wall rises straight for most of its height and turns inward only near the base, so the planter reads as one clean vertical instead of a taper.

Finished to order

Your color, your space

Each Lisbon is hand-finished in your chosen shade, so the color is specified to the space rather than chosen from what is in stock. The finish is an automotive-grade, UV-resistant paint system.

Finished in your color

Every planter is finished to order in the color you choose, then shipped to you.

Twenty standard finishes, hand-finished to order in the color you choose. Custom colors are available on request. On-screen color is a guide and can vary slightly from the finished paint.

Questions, answered

Can the Lisbon be used indoors and outdoors?

Yes. It's premium fiberglass, non-porous and UV-resistant, so it does not absorb the water that expands on freezing and does not fade in full sun.

Drainage is what decides it in practice: water left standing in an undrained planter through a freeze is the common failure, not the material.

What size should I choose?

Sizes are the diameter: 14", 18", or 24" across, standing 25", 32", and 36" tall. The planting openings are about 11.6", 15.6", and 20.9" across, holding roughly 13.2, 29.1, and 58.1 gallons of soil.

Does it come with drainage holes?

Not by default, so it can hold water or a liner. You can add drilled drainage on request; note a drilled planter is finished to order and non-returnable.

How heavy is it?

Fiberglass is light: about 12.1 lb (14"), 20.1 lb (18"), and 32.3 lb (24"), easy for one person to move before it is planted.

Is the Lisbon tapered?

Only near the base. The wall rises straight for most of its height, then curves inward over the bottom third to a narrower foot, so it reads as a column rather than a cone.

How long until it ships?

Each planter is finished to order in your chosen color and ships in about three to five business days, or five to seven for gloss finishes, with free ground shipping on the 14 and 18 inch sizes; the 24 inch ships by freight.

Do I have to fill a tall planter with soil all the way down?

No, and on a deep planter you should not. Some models carry an integrated internal ledge about 10 to 12 inches below the rim that holds a nursery pot, so the planting sits at the top and the depth below stays empty. A ledge weighs about 3 to 5 pounds and carries 75 to 100 pounds, and it is made for selected models at extra cost. Without one, lighten the base with empty plastic bottles or jugs. Avoid anything that breaks down, which encourages mold and bacteria.

What soil should I use?

Potting soil, potting mix or container mix only. Topsoil is heavy and gets heavier when wet, which puts outward pressure on the planter walls and compacts where a container mix stays open. Set the root ball one to three inches below the rim, water to settle it, and finish with a top dressing such as river rock or moss.
