Shipping & Delivery

Made to order
Each planter is hand-finished when you order it. Allow 5 to 10 business days of production before your order ships.

Free ground shipping
This size ships free by ground within the contiguous 48 states. You will receive a tracking number by email the moment your order ships; delivery usually takes another 2 to 7 business days.

Returns
14 days from delivery, unused and in the original packaging, with a 30% restocking fee. Refunded as Serene Yards store credit. Drilled and custom planters are final sale. Freight orders are final sale except where the planter arrives damaged or defective.

If it arrives damaged
Inspect the shipment before you sign. Note any damage on the bill of lading or delivery receipt before signing — to the boxes, the planter, or the packing material. A Jay Scotts delivery that arrives visibly damaged or not intact may also be refused outright. Do not refuse a Cosapots delivery: accept it, note the damage on the receipt and contact us, because a refused Cosapots shipment carries a 30% restocking fee plus round-trip shipping under the manufacturer's terms. You are entitled to open each box and inspect the goods; if the driver will not wait, write on the paperwork that you could not check for concealed damage. Report it to us in writing within 2 business days of delivery at customerservice@sereneyards.com, with photos of the damage, the cartons and the packing material, and keep all packaging until the claim is resolved. Damage noted at delivery and reported this way is covered — contact us and we'll make it right, either by replacing the planter or refunding you. Damage not noted at the time of delivery is much harder to resolve, because the carrier claim depends on that record. Full details are in our Shipping Policy.

Return & Refund Policy

Return Eligibility
Jay Scotts planters may be returned within 14 days of delivery, unused, uninstalled, and in the original box with all factory packing materials. Planters with drainage holes added and custom orders are final sale. This does not affect your rights if the planter arrives damaged or defective.

How to Start a Return
Contact us first. Email customerservice@sereneyards.com or call 888.254.6088 for a Return Authorization (RA) number. Returns without an RA cannot be accepted.

Return Costs

  • A 30% restocking fee applies to all authorized returns.
  • Original shipping charges are non-refundable. Where shipping was free or discounted, the original shipping cost may be assessed.
  • You arrange and prepay return shipping.
  • For returns due to our error (damaged, defective, or incorrect item), we cover return shipping and waive the restocking fee.

Final Sale
Freight orders are final sale except where the planter arrives damaged or defective. Your shipping method is shown on every size before you order.

Refunds
Approved returns are refunded as Serene Yards store credit, issued within 7 business days of us receiving and inspecting your return.

Every Jay Scotts planter carries a three-year limited manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, which applies whether or not an item is returnable.

The name says urn. The object is a tall vase: a rounded base, sides running close to straight, and a plain rim with no turn in it at all.

That matters because the two shapes behave differently. An urn narrows at the neck and gives up interior width to its own silhouette. This does not, so the opening stays between three-quarters and four-fifths of the outside diameter through all three sizes, and the volume near the base is close to the volume at the rim. A single upright roots the whole way down instead of into a cone.

Three sizes, thirteen by twenty up to twenty by twenty-nine, all taller than they are wide. The smallest weighs eight pounds empty and will carry a plant well above a console or a step; the largest reaches knee height before anything is planted. Weight the base for anything with a canopy, since a narrow footprint and a tall body is the combination that tips. Offered in seventeen finishes rather than the usual twenty. Non-porous, so it does not take up the water that expands on freezing, and hand-finished to order in the color you choose.

The Hayden in three sizes

Built to last

Every piece we carry is chosen to last, indoors or out, and look considered for years, not seasons.

Built to last

Inside or out

Non-porous fiberglass with a UV-resistant finish: it does not absorb the water that expands on freezing, so it holds its shape through winter and its color through summer.

Classic proportions

A true urn shape

Straight sides rise from a rounded base to a plain rim, so the interior stays close to a cylinder and holds its width all the way down rather than tapering to a point.

Finished to order

Your color, your space

Each Hayden is hand-finished in your chosen shade, so the color is specified to the space rather than chosen from what is in stock. The finish is an automotive-grade, UV-resistant paint system.

Finished in your color

Every planter is finished to order in the color you choose, then shipped to you.

Seventeen standard finishes, hand-finished to order in the color you choose. Custom colors are available on request. On-screen color is a guide and can vary slightly from the finished paint.

Questions, answered

Can the Hayden be used indoors and outdoors?

Yes. It is premium fiberglass, non-porous and UV-resistant, so it does not absorb the water that expands on freezing and does not fade in full sun.

Drainage is what decides it in practice: water left standing in an undrained planter through a freeze is the common failure, not the material.

How big is the Hayden?

Three sizes: 12, 15, or 18 inches in diameter at the belly, standing 20, 23, or 29 inches tall, with an opening about 10 to 16 inches across depending on size.

What does the urn shape look like?

The body is fullest at the belly and narrows again toward the rim, a classic urn silhouette rather than a straight-sided pot.

What can I plant in it?

The rounded body suits a single specimen planting or a trailing arrangement that softens the curve. Use lightweight potting soil only.

Does it come with drainage holes?

Not by default, so it can hold a liner. You can add drilled drainage on request; note a drilled planter is finished to order and non-returnable.

How heavy is it?

Fiberglass is light for the size: about 12 to 25 lb empty depending on size, movable by one person.
