Shipping & Delivery

Made to order
Each planter is hand-finished when you order it. Allow 5 to 10 business days of production before your order ships.

Free ground shipping
This size ships free by ground within the contiguous 48 states. You will receive a tracking number by email the moment your order ships; delivery usually takes another 2 to 7 business days.

Returns
30 days from delivery, in new and unused condition in the original packaging, with a 30% restocking fee and return shipping at your cost.

If it arrives damaged
Inspect the shipment before you sign. If it arrives visibly damaged or not intact, you may refuse it. If you accept it, note the damage on the bill of lading or delivery receipt before signing — to the boxes, the planter, or the packing material. You are entitled to open each box and inspect the goods; if the driver will not wait, write on the paperwork that you could not check for concealed damage. Report it to us in writing within 2 business days of delivery at customerservice@sereneyards.com, with photos of the damage, the cartons and the packing material, and keep all packaging until the claim is resolved. Damage noted at delivery and reported this way is covered — contact us and we'll make it right, either by replacing the planter or refunding you. Damage not noted at the time of delivery is much harder to resolve, because the carrier claim depends on that record. Full details are in our Shipping Policy.

How to Initiate a Return
Contact us first! Email customerservice@sereneyards.com or call 888.254.6088 to get a Return Authorization (RA) number. Returns without an RA will not be accepted.

Return Costs

  • The customer is responsible for return shipping costs on change-of-mind returns.
  • For returns due to our error (damaged, defective, or incorrect item), we cover return shipping and waive the restocking fee.

The Santa Barbara is wider than it is tall, and that proportion is the whole point. Vertical flutes run the full height of a rounded body, which opens to a broad rim and draws back to a small base. Raking light picks out every ridge, so the form reads as texture rather than bulk.

A bowl this shape holds a planting that spreads instead of one that climbs. The opening is nearly as wide as the body. That gives a fern or a mounded succulent group room to sit low and fill outward, where a tapered pot of the same height would push the same plant upward. It suits a terrace, an entry or a wide landing, and it rewards being seen close up.

It is made in one size, which is unusual here and worth saying plainly: there is no larger Santa Barbara to step up to. At twenty-three inches across it is substantial without being heavy, light enough for one person to reposition while the season changes. Fiberglass is why: non-porous, so it does not take up the water that expands on freezing, and hand-finished to order in the color you choose.

Santa Barbara Fluted Round Planter in the studio

A fluted bowl that catches the light.

Built to last

Every piece we carry is chosen to last, indoors or out, and look considered for years, not seasons.

Built to last

Inside or out

Non-porous fiberglass with a UV-resistant finish: it does not absorb the water that expands on freezing, so it holds its shape through winter and its color through summer.

Fluted and rounded

Texture, not mass

Vertical flutes run the full body and catch the light, so a wide round bowl reads as sculpted texture rather than bulk.

Finished to order

Your color, your space

Each Santa Barbara is hand-finished in your chosen shade, so the color is specified to the space rather than chosen from what is in stock. The finish is an automotive-grade, UV-resistant paint system.

Finished in your color

Every planter is finished to order in the color you choose, then shipped to you.

Nineteen standard finishes, hand-finished to order in the color you choose. Custom colors are available on request. On-screen color is a guide and can vary slightly from the finished paint.

Questions, answered

Can the Santa Barbara be used indoors and outdoors?

Yes. It is premium fiberglass, non-porous and UV-resistant, so it does not absorb the water that expands on freezing and does not fade in full sun.

Drainage is what decides it in practice: water left standing in an undrained planter through a freeze is the common failure, not the material.

How big is the Santa Barbara?

One low, wide size: 23 inches across and 20.3 inches tall, with an opening about 19 inches wide. It weighs about 15.9 lb empty.

What is the fluted shape best for?

It is a low, wide bowl with vertical flutes running the full body. The broad open mouth suits a full, rounded planting that sits into the shape rather than a single upright specimen.

What can I plant in it?

The wide, deep bowl (about 18.5 gallons) suits a full mounding planting, a clipped shrub, or a low seasonal display. Use lightweight potting soil only, not garden soil, sand, or rocks.

Does it come with drainage holes?

Not by default, so it can hold a liner or double as a cachepot. You can add drilled drainage on request; note a drilled planter is finished to order and non-returnable.

How heavy is it?

Fiberglass is light for the size: about 15.9 lb empty, so one person can move it before planting.
