Shipping & Delivery

Made to order
Each planter is hand-finished when you order it. Allow 5 to 10 business days of production before your order ships.

Free ground shipping
This size ships free by ground within the contiguous 48 states. You will receive a tracking number by email the moment your order ships; delivery usually takes another 2 to 7 business days.

Returns
14 days from delivery, unused and in the original packaging, with a 30% restocking fee. Refunded as Serene Yards store credit. Drilled and custom planters are final sale. Freight orders are final sale except where the planter arrives damaged or defective.

If it arrives damaged
Inspect the shipment before you sign. Note any damage on the bill of lading or delivery receipt before signing — to the boxes, the planter, or the packing material. A Jay Scotts delivery that arrives visibly damaged or not intact may also be refused outright. Do not refuse a Cosapots delivery: accept it, note the damage on the receipt and contact us, because a refused Cosapots shipment carries a 30% restocking fee plus round-trip shipping under the manufacturer's terms. You are entitled to open each box and inspect the goods; if the driver will not wait, write on the paperwork that you could not check for concealed damage. Report it to us in writing within 2 business days of delivery at customerservice@sereneyards.com, with photos of the damage, the cartons and the packing material, and keep all packaging until the claim is resolved. Damage noted at delivery and reported this way is covered — contact us and we'll make it right, either by replacing the planter or refunding you. Damage not noted at the time of delivery is much harder to resolve, because the carrier claim depends on that record. Full details are in our Shipping Policy.

Return & Refund Policy

Return Eligibility
Jay Scotts planters may be returned within 14 days of delivery, unused, uninstalled, and in the original box with all factory packing materials. Planters with drainage holes added and custom orders are final sale. This does not affect your rights if the planter arrives damaged or defective.

How to Start a Return
Contact us first. Email customerservice@sereneyards.com or call 888.254.6088 for a Return Authorization (RA) number. Returns without an RA cannot be accepted.

Return Costs

  • A 30% restocking fee applies to all authorized returns.
  • Original shipping charges are non-refundable. Where shipping was free or discounted, the original shipping cost may be assessed.
  • You arrange and prepay return shipping.
  • For returns due to our error (damaged, defective, or incorrect item), we cover return shipping and waive the restocking fee.

Final Sale
Freight orders are final sale except where the planter arrives damaged or defective. Your shipping method is shown on every size before you order.

Refunds
Approved returns are refunded as Serene Yards store credit, issued within 7 business days of us receiving and inspecting your return.

Every Jay Scotts planter carries a three-year limited manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, which applies whether or not an item is returnable.

Every other planter we sell needs floor. The Tiergarden has a notch cut up into its underside, so it can drop over a rail and be carried by it instead.

On a balcony that is the whole argument. Floor is the thing you do not have, and a trough standing against the balustrade takes a foot of it away from a space that might only be six feet deep. Hang it on the rail and the footprint comes back. Three feet long, twelve inches deep, with an eight-inch interior planted directly rather than through a pot.

Two things to settle before ordering, because we would rather say them here than let you find out on delivery. Measure the rail against the notch: the manufacturer publishes no maximum width, so we do not quote one. And nothing is supplied to fasten it down, so where a fall would matter, secure it yourself or use it flat on a ledge, a sill or a parapet, which it does equally well. Non-porous, so it does not take up the water that expands on freezing, and hand-finished to order in the color you choose.

Tiergarden Railing Planter in the studio

Planted with feathery succulents along a rail

Built to last

Every piece we carry is chosen to last, indoors or out, and look considered for years, not seasons.

Built to last

Inside or out

Non-porous fiberglass with a UV-resistant finish: it does not absorb the water that expands on freezing, so it holds its shape through winter and its color through summer.

Straddles the rail

A planter that hangs

A notch cut into the underside lets the Tiergarden straddle a rail or balustrade, or sit flat as a ledge trough. Measure your rail against the notch before ordering: no fixings are supplied and the manufacturer publishes no load rating.

Finished to order

Your color, your space

Each Tiergarden is hand-finished in your chosen shade, so the color is specified to the space rather than chosen from what is in stock. The finish is an automotive-grade, UV-resistant paint system.

Finished in your color

Every planter is finished to order in the color you choose, then shipped to you.

Twenty standard finishes, hand-finished to order in the color you choose. Custom colors are available on request. On-screen color is a guide and can vary slightly from the finished paint.

Questions, answered

Can the Tiergarden mount on a railing?

Yes. A notch cut into the base lets it straddle a rail or balustrade. The manufacturer publishes no maximum rail width and supplies no fixings, so measure your rail against the notch first, and secure it yourself where a fall would matter.

How big is the Tiergarden?

One size: 36 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 10 inches tall, with an opening about 34 by 10 inches. It weighs about 10 lb empty.

Does it work as a regular ground planter too?

Yes. Set flat, it works as a standalone ledge or countertop trough on a sill, wall, or walkway.

What can I plant in it?

The narrow, even channel suits herbs, trailing succulents, low grasses, and seasonal annuals planted shoulder to shoulder. Use lightweight potting soil only.

Does it come with drainage holes?

Not by default, so it can hold a liner. You can add drilled drainage on request; note a drilled planter is finished to order and non-returnable.

How heavy is it?

Fiberglass is light for the size: about 10 lb empty, easy for one person to lift and mount.
