Shipping & Delivery

Made to order
Each planter is hand-finished when you order it. Allow 5 to 10 business days of production before your order ships.

Curbside freight delivery — $495
This size ships on a pallet by freight truck for a flat $495, free on orders over $2,000. The driver lowers it to the curb with a liftgate; plan for a second person to move it into place. The carrier will call to schedule a delivery window, so please be available.

Returns
This size is final sale except for a manufacturer defect or shipping damage reported as below.

If it arrives damaged
Inspect the shipment before you sign. If it arrives visibly damaged or not intact, you may refuse it. If you accept it, note the damage on the bill of lading or delivery receipt before signing — to the boxes, the planter, or the packing material. You are entitled to open each box and inspect the goods; if the driver will not wait, write on the paperwork that you could not check for concealed damage. Report it to us in writing within 2 business days of delivery at customerservice@sereneyards.com, with photos of the damage, the cartons and the packing material, and keep all packaging until the claim is resolved. Damage noted at delivery and reported this way is covered — contact us and we'll make it right, either by replacing the planter or refunding you. Damage not noted at the time of delivery is much harder to resolve, because the carrier claim depends on that record. Full details are in our Shipping Policy.

Return & Refund Policy

At Serene Yards, we want you to be happy with your purchase.

Return Eligibility
Items must be new, unused, and in original packaging within 30 days of delivery. Drilled-drainage planters are final sale, because drilling is done to order and cannot be undone. This does not affect your rights if the planter arrives damaged or defective.

How to Initiate a Return
Contact us first! Email customerservice@sereneyards.com or call 888.254.6088 to get a Return Authorization (RA) number. Returns without an RA will not be accepted.

Return Costs

  • A 30% restocking fee applies to change-of-mind returns.
  • The customer is responsible for return shipping costs on change-of-mind returns.
  • For returns due to our error (damaged, defective, or incorrect item), we cover return shipping and waive the restocking fee.

Refunds
Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 7 business days of us receiving and inspecting your return.

The Barà is a jar rather than a pot, and the difference is where the width sits. The wall swells to a shoulder high on the body, then falls away in one long curve to a foot much narrower than the top.

That silhouette is very old, and it does something a straight pot cannot. The widest point is above the middle, so the form appears to lift rather than sit. The narrow foot then reads as deliberate rather than unstable. It belongs where the container is meant to be seen: at the end of a path, in a courtyard corner, or as a pair marking an entrance.

The mouth is the thing to check before buying. Eleven and a quarter inches on a twenty-inch body, fourteen on a twenty-four, so a little over half the outside width in both sizes. Plant to that figure, not to the diameter on the label, and expect to lift a root ball in through the neck rather than work soil at an open rim. Both sizes travel by freight. Non-porous, so it does not take up the water that expands on freezing, and hand-finished to order in the color you choose.

Barà Jar Planter in the studio

Pottery, scaled up for the garden.

Built to last

Every piece we carry is chosen to last, indoors or out, and look considered for years, not seasons.

Built to last

Inside or out

Non-porous fiberglass with a UV-resistant finish: it does not absorb the water that expands on freezing, so it holds its shape through winter and its color through summer.

Jar-form silhouette

A classic jar, lifted

A rolled lip and rounded shoulder taper down a long curved wall to a narrow foot, so a tall planter reads as a light, lifted form rather than a heavy column.

Finished to order

Your color, your space

Each Barà Jar is hand-finished in your chosen shade, so the color is specified to the space rather than chosen from what is in stock. The finish is an automotive-grade, UV-resistant paint system.

Finished in your color

Every planter is finished to order in the color you choose, then shipped to you.

Twenty standard finishes, hand-finished to order in the color you choose. Custom colors are available on request. On-screen color is a guide and can vary slightly from the finished paint.

Questions, answered

Can the Barà Jar be used indoors and outdoors?

Yes. It is premium fiberglass, non-porous and UV-resistant, so it does not absorb the water that expands on freezing and does not fade in full sun.

Drainage is what decides it in practice: water left standing in an undrained planter through a freeze is the common failure, not the material.

What size should I choose?

Two sizes, measured across the widest point: 20 or 24 inches, standing 31 and 37 inches tall, each narrowing to an 11 or 14 inch mouth and base. They weigh about 17.3 and 25 lb empty.

What is the jar shape best for?

The rolled lip and rounded shoulder taper to a narrow foot, a classic storage-jar form. The deep body and narrowed mouth frame a single upright specimen rising out of the top rather than a wide, spreading planting.

What can I plant in it?

An upright specimen that plays against the tapered form, such as a slim tree, a bamboo, or a tall ornamental grass. Use lightweight potting soil only, not garden soil, sand, or rocks.

Does it come with drainage holes?

Not by default, so it can hold a liner or double as a cachepot. You can add drilled drainage on request; note a drilled planter is finished to order and non-returnable.

How heavy is it?

Fiberglass is light for the size: about 17.3 lb for the 20 inch and 25 lb for the 24 inch, empty, so one person can move it before planting, though the taller size is best set in place first.
