Saigon Tapered Round Planter in Metallic Silver

Silver Planters

(57 products)

Metallic Silver is a cool grey with flake in it, so it lifts and shifts as light moves rather than sitting flat like a painted grey. It is sprayed onto a fiberglass shell as an automotive-grade paint system and hand-finished to order across every shape we carry.

Silver, without the metal

Silver is specified where a planter needs to read as modern without introducing another color into a scheme. It works against glass, polished concrete and pale render, and it is one of the few finishes that looks deliberate indoors and outdoors without changing character.

The useful comparison is not with metal but with grey. Matte Cement Grey is a flat mineral tone that reads as mass and sits still; Metallic Silver contains flake, so it lifts where light rakes across it and reads cooler and darker head on. Choose grey when the planter should feel built into the setting, and silver when it should catch the eye at the end of a sightline. They are not interchangeable, and on a scheme using both the difference is what does the work.

Because the finish is directional, plan for it. On a single specimen planter the shift is the point. On a long row where light changes along the length, expect the tone to vary from one end to the other, which is why a flat finish is the safer specification for a continuous run.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a metal planter?

No. It is fiberglass finished in a metallic silver paint system. That is deliberate: it gives the look without the two problems metal has outdoors, which are corrosion at the base and permanent dents.

Does the silver look different in sun and shade?

Yes. The finish contains flake, so it lifts where light rakes across it and reads cooler and darker head on. On a run of several planters expect the tone to vary slightly along the length.

How do I clean a metallic finish?

Mild soap and water with a soft cloth. Avoid bleach, power washing, steel wool and abrasives, which is the manufacturer's guidance for every finish.

Is silver suitable for a rooftop or a windy site?

The finish is UV-resistant and the body is non-porous, so weather is not the constraint. Weight is: place it before planting and choose a wider base in an exposed spot.
